i see half decent washers and dryers in the trash all the time. i just take them home, take out the motors, hoses and heating element, or sell them for cheap.

you could probably find a nice set for cheap if you look at garage sales or people just throw them away. those new large front load models are very popular now should be cheap to find a good used set.
