Would it hurt if I put just a cup of bleach in my dog's swimming pool?

If you want to add something to the water that won't harm your dog try baking soda. 1/2 cup will do the trick and keep the water from developing an odor and prevent the algae formation.

yes go to walmart and get some shock and swim for small pools put it in for awile then take it out make sure to kinda stir it around
Maybe not quite a whole cup. But it won't hurt a thing. We had a bulldog we bathed in bleach water. Kept him bright, shiny, and relatively flea free, as well.
Don't put bleach in there when the dog is going to be in there. The bleach can kill your dog.
If you want to clean the pool with a water and bleach mixture, even with some soap, and then rinse it all out before putting fresh water in there that would be fine.
But don't put bleach in there and leave it like you would chlorine, it can kill your dog.
My son's friend lost a kitten because it got into someone's mop water which was a water and bleach mixture.
Don 't use the bleach. It will be way more harmful to him than the algae is. The algae only bothers us humans b/c we view it as gross or dirty. Ever noticed how dogs eat, lick and drink out of anything? Dogs & cats have more tolerant digestive sytems than we do. If you can stand it just leave the algae for a few days (it won't hurt your dog but the bleach will, even a small amount of bleach). And when you can't stand the algae growth dump the water, wipe out the algae & re-fill.
p.s. I think it's cute that you have a pool for him to splash in & keep cool. That's very nice of you.

I think it would be okay for his skin, maybe, but his mucous membranes might get irritated gradually over time. JUst scrub it out and fill it back up when it gets nasty. I would worry less about a day of algae...
