I just bought some for $1.69 a bag. I used 5 bags to cover an area about 10X10. So, I'd say around $10.00 depending on what you buy.

Depends on how thick you want it to be, what type it is and where you live. Mulch is measured in Yards. 3x3x3 is 1 Yard (or 27 square feet). So your 8x8 area at 6" thick would be 32 square feet or just over 1 Yard. You need at least 4" thick if you want to stop weeds from growing up through the mulch.
Pine is less expensive than Cedar. Either treated with pesticide costs more. $30-$40 these days is reasonable, but you'd have to pay delivery charges too!
