The apartment we live in doesn't have windows we can put air conditioners in. We just have a sliding glass door and the kitchen window opens from the side. How can we cool off the house with an air conditioner? The fans just blow hot air around.

Go to a Lowes or Home Depot. They make a completetly portable A/C that ducts the hot air outside through a hose.

one of the things you can add to your apartment to cool it off is to add a indoor fountain. the water adds a small amount of moisture to the air and helps cool off the apt.
What I do is keep all the blinds and windows shut during the day. Then at night when it starts to cool down open everything up until the next morning. Good luck!
