I need help with my bed, seriously and don't ask me to go to Heloise please?

I have a California King size bed and sheets to fit it. Well, I have a yucky back and my husband has shoulder problems. Well, we bought a down filled "mattress" to put on the top to make our sleep better (it has). BUT, I can't get the sheets to go over the thing without them popping off. So, I compromise but I don't want my king mattresses ruined since my Dad bought our bed for 1,100 bucks when we got married. Now, I know how to sew by hand and machine. Does anybody out there think that I can solve my problem by sewing enough heavy duty elastic on there to "force" the sheets to stay in place? Or, are there any other suggestions? This is a first in sewing for me and I don't want to ruin the sheets. I have a mattress cover but I like sleeping on crisp sheets. If anybody has an idea, thanks.

Answers:
You can buy elastic bands with clips on the ends. They are designed to help hold your sheets on the mattress. Just attach them to the corners of your fitted sheets. You can get them in the bedding department at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and at most other stores that sell bed sheets and blankets.

I have a california king too with a tempurpedic mattress topper... i have the same problem with some of my sheets... however, now i buy most of my linens from Northern Lights on qvc.com... their sheets for the california king have good deep pockets and i dont have any more slippage problems... as for the other sheets...well, i cant sew.... so we gave them away.... but good luck to you... i am sure someone has a nifty idea for you. :)

A couple alternatives. If those elastic holder clips dont work, try sewing a couple of sheets together, and use Velcro for the joining part, thus making a duvet for your down filled mattress. Make at least 2 for laundering.
I can give you one good piece of advice, don't try a sleep number bed. Me and my husband did and there was no difference in our sleep or comfort whatsoever, its a complete scam. Thank god we got to return it, only had to pay shipping costs, which were expensive. Hope you resolve your problem
