Why are my plumeria leaves turning yellow? Live in Houston, Tx and they are planted in full sun?

The only info I could find that included "leaves turning yellow" was at the website below...
They stated that in the Winter, before storage, the Plumeria should be defoliated(cut each and every leaf off the plant about 1inch from the stem). If they are not defoliated, the leaves will yellow and fall off during storage.
