Do you or have you ever lived on a front porch?

When I was younger and we visited my Grandmother, we use to sit on the front porch for hours. We knew everything that went on in the neighborhood. There was very little crime back then. Each morning I looked forward to that. We would get all sorts of visitors. The amount of time spent out there was almost like living there.
When I was a teen, I would hang out on the front porch and watch the guys play basketball across the street on the church lot. There was this guy named Tyrone that was so fine. MY, MY MY...
Now I am 37. I have my own home in the suburbs. We have a homeowners assoication that protects our investment dollars against things like that. Busy streets, people hanging out, cars stored outside of the garage can bring down your property value. I never hang out on the front at my home. I have a deck and gazebo in the back where I do my outside entertaining.
I do miss the good ole days "livin on the porch" though.

I know a few people who have enclosed a porch and used it for a room. One was used for a children's bedroom, and one was used for a living room. They both had shades that could be pulled down, and screening to be a protection from the weather. One was used for an extra room, and one was a play room.

Yes i have, for no particular reason really, just to be outdoors. I stayed out there for 3 days, it was summer time and i rather have been outside than inside just because it was nice outside. :)
