do you leave air conditioner condenser units uncovered outside?
Answers:
Depends on how 'neat-nick' you are. I have one at the home here and three others in rental properties that I own and I never cover them, but have considered it. The only one I have done anything of a preventive measure with is the one here at the house where I live. Rinsed it out once or twice in 15 years, (make certain you pull the electrical disconnect before doing so).
My father built a cover for his unit and my uncle purchased on of the plastic / canvas covers, but in the terse version of the long and short of things, it doesn't need to be covered.
All of the units I mentioned above are over twenty years old and other a fan motor on one of them having to be replaced a few years ago, they are like the Energizer Bunny. They just keep on running.

What do you mean uncovered?
We have a standard Trane and it has a case on part of it and the coils are covered with the protective grating. It is a standard unit.
