Swimming pool SOS. Today my swimming pool water is as green as the above text, any advise for mustard algee?

I've already treated with 2 bags of black magic (store brand) , 7 bags of shock ....and one whole bottle of algicide 60. My pool is @ 16,000 sq ft.
I've lived here for three years, w/ no problems conditioning my pool......help! thanks for any advice!!!

Answers:
mustard algea is one of the hardest to get rid of,if thats what it is.take a water sample to an authorized dealer .they will check the water and give you a computer printout with the info of the type of algea.it will also include what you need to balance the pool water.as for the algea, run your pool constantly, backwashing a few time when needed.use good quality chems such as bioguard to balance the water.once the water is balanced you can then keep it crystal clear.good luck

Other answers:
You must have had some serious rain, with all that in the pool, keep the Filter going - it should clean up.

A local swimming pool store should test your water for free,
then tell you what chemicals you need, hoping you buy
the chemicals there, which you should because they just
solved your problem.
shock the pool and check ph level
There may be something of use here.
Two ways to attack mustard algae: Poison it or starve it.
To poison it there are several algaecides that do the job. Of the lot I've had better luck with silver algaecide. Use per label instructions. Generally a very effective algaecide, though I have seen a few pools it didn't work in. (Immunity?)
A better method is to starve it. Nothing develops an immunity to starvation! Couple of good brands out there. Zero Phos (my first choice) is sometimes difficult to find. But a GREAT product. Failing that try Phos Free. It works well, but has other products in it that aren't necessary for our purposes here. Use per label instructions. Next morning vacuum the little particles and the algae starts to die. All plants require phosphates to live. A bag of fertilizer, for example, shows 3 numbers. The middle number is phosphates. Take it away and the plant will die. That's how these products work. They remove the phosphates.
Still, you must be diligent about your other chemical levels. Shock regularly, especially after a rain. Keep pH and Total Alkalinity adjusted, etc. Once mustard algae germinated it is chlorine resistant. That's why it's so irritating. Good luck.
