I have a bed I got from there which is very nice, and wasn't too terrible to put together. I like it a lot, we haven't had any trouble with it.

I think you will find Ikea furniture much easier to assemble than most furniture you are required to assemble yourself. I do own a few pieces of IKEA furniture. i have to say that although i still like it the quality has gone down quite a bit. I still own a few pieces from when i was a kid which are holding up nicely. However some of the pieces i bought recently have broken.
I find them pretty functional - I've bought a wardrobe and a bathroom cabinate - both do the job.

Sure, the downside is you have to build it yourself, but that's the reason why Ikea offers them at such a good price
big pain in the butt to put together
I don't care for contemporary furniture but some of their small items are clever. I bought a napkin holder that is flat and just has a simple silver weight suspended over the top so they won't blow away.
Fun stuff. Love, just love to browse through their stores. I've got some of those great ' Poang' armchairs & ottomans. Yes, the first one a pain to assemble, but after chair 4, not that bad.

A good idea it to not try to put their furniture together just before a big house party or worse, home wedding!
Ikea's ok, as long as you buy stuff you never touch...LOL. If I was to buy a bed or a nice chair, I would never buy from Ikea, they feel too cheap and flimsy. But dressers and bookcases are ok. Yeah, they are a pain to put together.
Yeah- we have 2 freestanding kitchen cabinets and a dresser. With a talented, strong husband, they weren't that hard to put together, were much, much cheaper than adding 10+ feet of built-in kitchen countertop/cabinets, and look decent too.

My gripe is that the nearest Ikea store is 90 miles away, and that's a long way to drive on the interstate with a big box on the roof of the car...
Dudette, like you put together your furniture?? I'd never buy furniture I had to assemble. It lasts like only a few years then you hvae crap. and you can't even burn it cuz of the chemicals and stuff in it.
