What's the best matress on the market?
Answers:
I read an article in Consumer Reports some years ago that said that for standard coil mattresses, this is an impossible question to answer. Different stores sell the identical or nearly identical mattress, but with a different name. So a Serta "X" at Sears might be named a Serta "Y" at Macy's... same mattress, different names. The rule of thumb they gave is that you tend to get what you pay for, if you pay $800 or more for the mattress, you are likely to get a quality mattress.
I don't know how the other matress types compare (space foam or sleep number), however, both are expensive, so I would assume they fall into that 'quality range'.

i REALLY like the Sleep Number mattress - whatever the brand is.
i can adjust it to whatever i like, and i don't always want it to be super firm. Also, i don't have to worry about allergies with it.
I would say the Tempurpedic mattress. They are expensive, but extremely comfortable.
I have a Temper-pedic and love it. I've had it for over 5 years. It takes some getting use to so, if you decide to give one a try, take advantage of their 60 or 90 day trial and use every day of it. Give it at least a month.
The "best mattress" is a subjective opinion. In the end, you need to thoroughly test the mattresses you are interested in and base your buying decision on what feels best to you. After all, you will spend about one third of your life in bed.
Good luck with your choice.
