I think they always will come back so eradication as & when is the only way. If they are getting into you property then there must be holes somewhere. These could be found & blocked
This sounds stupid but put down both ant spray and granules. Make sure the spray is water resistant for how ever many weeks. If that doesn't work, you might try pest control

You might have to have someone reseal the house. Otherwise an exterminator's services is needed. I use cheap AquaNet hairspray in all the windows or doors I've seen the critters coming through. It works.
If it's just a small area try a chalk line just get a piece of regular chalk and draw a line where you don't want them to pass and they will not cross it or try diazamation earth(not sure of the spelling)but it works and is natural
if you put somt talcum powder across your doorways this will stop them from coming in. For some reason ants dont like it and will not cross it. Hope this helps you with your problem....
Don't leave any food out. Wipe up straight away. Put in airtight containers. Works for rodents too.
mix a couple capfuls of ammonia and water, then spray where they are, around door and places they come in.
I read somewhere that put lemon juice in the perimeter of the area so they won't come in helps. But if you've already tried that stuff it might be time to get some ant traps to get rid of them. If you have children or pets you will probably want to make sure they are non-toxic.
try using the ant powder. if you sprinkle it on the ant hills they will take it back and eat it and die. also put it around you foundation so they don't get inside. if they get inside there is a liquid that you can put on a piece of wax paper and put on the floor. they will eat it and drown.

the ONLY thing that worked is SOAP and WATER and keeping the area absolutely clean

Make a spray of white vinegar and water about 1\4 vinegar should do the trick . And spray your cabinets and etc about once a week with it
plant mint around the foundation of the house, ants hate that. Check to see if there are tree limbs overhanging your roof, sometimes the ants are dropping off of the tree. Also check around the house to see if there is something that is drawing them. If you have peonies planted close to the house, move them. They draw ants. Boric acid powder will work, but be careful if you have kids or animals that they can't get into it. If all else fails, call an exterminator. Good luck.
I found out that bug sprays and powder grains only work temporary.
The best old fashion remedy that works is BORAX. It's a soap powder that for some reason works to keep ants where they belong... out. It might be hard to find but some places still have it.

my mother had ants in her kitchen and she found a solution which seem to do the trick. She bought a bunch of juicy grapes (a small price to get rid of them!) and place it on the surface where they occur at and leave it for a good few hours. most ants are attracted to this and they clamber over the grapes. the minute you get loads of ants on it, quickly pick the bunch of grapes and drop it into boiling hot water in a container. this will instantly kill them. and wash/cool the grapes to repeat the steps till all is removed! simple and entertaining may i say!!

This worked for me:- get some jam and place in a jam jar lid (or something similar) place it outside near the wall of your house where you think the ants are coming in from. Then every day move it a couple of inches away from the wall, do this every day until the lid is far enough away so they are not coming into your house. Keep topping up with jam if when it is getting low.
