How do I get rid of roaches and other insects without using a bug bomb or other chemicals?

I've had a minor bug problem for a few years, but recently they have gotten worse. I have roaches and this funny little beetle type thing that moves very fast, but is very easily squashed. I've tried roach motels and bug sprays. I try to keep the house clean and the counters clear, but the darn things just keep comming. They are worse at night (of course) and they swarm around the cats food and water dishes. I'm fed up with this problem and having to leave the lights on isn't condusive to aiding my very low income problem. Are there any ways to get rid of these gross things without spending tons of money? I live in a manufactured single wide home. Please help, my next step is burning the house down.

Answers:
while leaving the food and water out to feed the cat, you're feeding the bugs too! Put food and water dishes away at night, like seal them in a plastic bag, or set them outside, or even in the fridge, if you don't think that's gross. ( I do) Leave NO food sitting out, seal every thing in those big freezer bags, or you can get nice plastic containers at Family dollar, and dollar stores. Make sure ther are no crumbs of food on counters, floors, etc. and tie up, or set out the trash at night. If they can't eat at your place, they'll move on, but sounds like it's gonna take a long time. The other cool thing you can do is get a few Venus Fytraps! They are the coolest plant and actually do catch bugs. Set a few around your home in different rooms. But don't be silly like I was, and like touch them with something just to watch them snap shut, I didn't know at the time, but It makes them starve, and will kill the plant. (As it did mine.) Also, I think you can outline your walls with salt, along the floors, of course, I know it works for some bugs, ants, etc. Can't hurt to try, salt is inexpensive in most places. Other than that, keep everthing spotless. (Not always easy, I know) I think they also have a boric acid, or a roach powder, in a yellow bottle, available at Kroger's, and I think it works pretty well, but if you have kids or pets, you may want to read it. Also, I noticed they like to live under kitchen sinks, so keep it clean and dry under there, and keep a roach trap, or powder under there for them to get into. Any ways, that's all the tips I have, I hope I helped you. have a great day.

boric acid works for real,. just try it

use the bombs it is much better than burning down the house. both methods will get the bugs out of the house. just with the bombs you still have a house.
You could try bug bombs (for a single wide I would suggest at least 4 throughout all the rooms) but take the cats outside for a few hours and put their food / water away. If they don't work for you then you are going to have to call in the pros for this one. I personally don't know how you could stand it for this long. That is awful! Think of the germs they are spreading around. I understand you are low income, but you have to get rid of them, no matter the cost.
I'm in pest control and i think the best thing to do is get a pest control tech to take care of it roaches can Lay up to 60 eggs per female if u have them around cat dishes u prob have it bad pest control would prob run u 75 every 3 months
Forget about not using bombs and chemicals, you are in for a battle- they live under the home, put combat homes up behind all water pipes, Combat, in every corner,
