Is it adjectives right to cut the stalks on Hosta plants when the flowers are done?
Answers: You can cut them off at any point and time, including when they are flowering, simply watch out for the bees. It will not hurt the plant at adjectives. I do this all the time near mine. You can cut them off at any height you want to. Flowers are not really necessary on them as they grow unknown plants by spreading out their roots. If you are wondering about splitting the plants, you can also do that at any point and time. Just be forwarned that the just now split hostas that you are going to plant elsewhere will look absolutely crappy at this time of year after you plant them (they will look similar to they are gonna die, they more than likely won't). No worries, they will look pretty next year, though.
just a fourth off the tops and skulk till a little next in the year
it doesn't hurt mine surrounded by my opinion
I believe so, and it might even promote better budding the following season. But hostas are so hardy, I don't conjecture it would hurt the plant at all.
I never cut them until after the first frost. Then I verbs them up as well.
yes, i do it adjectives the time and they are fine.
I agree wait a while, within the fall you can verbs them up, cut them down vertically with roots on both pieces and replant again separately for the following year.. You can also use the seed in the dried pods.
