That's not wierd, that's normal cat behavior...if you want him to do his business elswhere, mulch the garden with bark chips and provide a nearby corner with sand or soft dirt he can dig easily or train him to use a litter box.

Cats do that. They are covering their scent. In the wild, it makes them less likely to attract a predator.

your cat is not weird, its perfectly normal for your cat to do this. I've had more than 15 cats in my life and they all do it. It's their natural instinct. they do it in dirt, mulch, anything that can be dug and pushed back over.
thats not weird. if your cat is around a lot of dogs. it probably picked it up on one of them doing it.
I don't think you obviously understand cats. What would make you think this action is weird? Do you want to smell your poo after going to the bathroom, they have a keen sense of smell and so do predators. This is something that is in their genes to make sure all those kinds of scents are covered up.
If you don't like the cat digging in your garden then get a litter box and put it someplace centered to where it normally goes to the bathroom, this will fix that. Or you can get really creative and teach it to use your restroom, flushing and all.
