How does one eradicate chinese elm trees?

Answers:
find out if it is a protected species first or if there is a preservation order on it...... ask some freinds if they want it or take cuttings from it to give them... make it a "last resort" to destroy it, but if it is very big and old which posses a danger of falling you may need to call the tree removal experts and make sure they take the roots also.

Other answers:
cut it down to the base and imediatley brush on undiluted roundup or any glyfo 360 strength, you have to brush it on very quick as the trunk will start to seal itself as soon as it cut, this way the poison will be taken down to the roots and they will die, only other way is to dig the root system right out

Chinese Elms are next to impossible to rid. Depending on how severe your problem is. I would call your local Soil Conservation Office. Chinese Elms are a noxious plant in most states. The SC people can help! They can give you all kinds of info and in most cases they will help with the cost of eradication. It is there job to preserve and protect the soil, noxious weeds and trees are a threat. Give them a call they will be alot of help!
