Where do I buy activate charcoal for terrariums?
Answers: The charcoal used within fish tank filter is the same stuff, merely ground into smaller bits. I have see charcoal packaged to be used surrounded by terrariums, but have never contained the reason for it. Once you mix anything surrounded by your soil, it is there to stay, so charcoal would not be of any benefit contained by de-toxing the soil.
I have found the biggest problem beside terrarium soil is over watering, which causes "souring" and the growth of fungus and mildew. If you are building a plant terrarium, the roots will hold the soil stirred up and healthy. If you are making a reservoir for a semi-aquatic pet, use a dish for the water it wants to swim in and keep hold of the plants in regular, illustrious grade potting soil. You can mix activate charcoal in if you want. It sure won't hurt anything.
You can buy it within a pet store in the aqaurium unit
Home Depot probably has it surrounded by the fancy soil section (where the African Violet soil, cactus soil, etc) is.
yep - you can buy it at any pet store.
