But, the charging system on the mower is only designed to "maintain" battery voltage. Not charge it.
Generaly the charging system only supplies a maximum of 15 amps. A low\dead battery will over tax the charging system and you will burn up the alternator that is installed under mowers engine flywheel. If that happens, you can expect to shellout $80.00 in labor plus parts to repair it.
Remove the battery and charge, or replace it.
Also...there should be a 15 amp fuse in line on the inside of the control pannel below the key switch that my blow out.
A low dead battery really won't affect it much (heck I've seen many run them WITH dead batterys for years, they just kept jumping them) cheap skates..... what can I say.

Yes, perfectly fine(don't have the car running) and don't sit there, short bursts on the starter...... even with a L&G battery, too long on the starter and you will burn it up.
