Well, you weren't very specific about your question, but I will answer the way I would like to know. First keep a supply of salt tablets, conserve water, it is better to constantly sip water if you are too hot then one big drink. Could give you stomach ache. Salt tablets help you hold your water in ,instead of sweating it out too fast. Keep your head covered when in the direct sun. Try to rest during the day and travel at night if you are in a desparate situation. The animals do it to survive. Watch out for snakes around the rocky areas. If you sleep in the desert always shake your shoes out before putting them on, scorpions like to get into shoes and sleep, put your foot on one and you will be sorry. Bring along good sunblock too! Good Luck!!
MOVE!!!
There's lots of nature to see during the cooler months. Visit the mountains, the big nature parks, go hiking. You can visit caves, get to know about the things in nature by visiting national parks and going on walks with the rangers.
As for things kids can do, I suppose you could try to work for neighbors on weekends, doing yard work and car washing, and save some money up to go to the movies and buy ice cream. Try to get outside every day, but first thing in the morning while it is cool out. Go for a 2 mile walk every day to get in shape and to feel better, physically. The earlier, the better.
Teach yourself some technology skills. Don't just play on the computer, but teach yourself how to work various programs. Technology is something to learn backwards and forwards.
Visit the library and read one new book each week. Get involved with crafts or a hobby. Learn to cook great, tasty food. Love sweets? Work your way through a cookbook, making just one new recipe a week. And share it with others.
Go camping in a friend's backyard. Take turns having outdoor sleepovers, and learn to read the night sky.
Go outside at night with a black light. Some creatures show up with a black light.
Hang out with friends and go for walks together. Climb rocks, visit washes, and get to know your local environment.
