Would you prefer to live in North London or South London?

Is it safer to live in North London than it is in South London? Which part has the most hard water? And which part most of all commands respect? Please give me reasons. Thanks.

Answers:
Having lived in both, I prefer Central London. The transport system is better in North London, but there is a bit of a snob value. South London is in general cheaper than North London. You can more or less find equivalent places north and south of the river: South London will be cheaper but the transport will probably not be as good. For example Brixton is the South London equivalent of Camden. As for safety, I think they're about the same. Rolex robberies are quite common in Hampstead, mainly due to the affluence there.

I would not live there if you paid me

I would prefer to live in South London because that is where my lover lives. The water there is drinkable too. Also it is closer to Surrey which is rather nice dontcha know?
Where IS South London? I understand it actually exists... But as a North Londoner I just don't understand why anyone would want to go there.
South West London.
I like north London
Neither
It's all swings and roundabouts, hard water is better for your heart. Soft water requires less soap.
Go where the money is.
south london
neither! i used to live in london (north and south) and hated the place i still do i wouldnt move back to any part of london even if i was paid millions
i now live up north and i love it
None
Personally, I would hate to live in London. But if I did.....I would go for Richmond by the river. Very pleasant place indeed. I have no idea what areas command respect as I don't live there, and all the nice areas seem to border horrible areas.

As for the water, that is my major gripe about the place. It is foul everywhere (recycled beyond belief and just chemicals). You cannot have a decent cup of tea in London at all the mug goes all scummy....and life without nice brews is not on!
SOUTH SOUTH SOUTH. Lived there for over ten years then thought I'd see what 'leafy North London' had to offer. Nothing.
The people are rude and arrogant and think they're better people beacuse they live north. The parks aren't as nice, the drinking water's vile, there's nothing to do for children....oh I could go on and on but wish I'd never left Brixton.
I have lived in both and I prefer South East London by far. It is more alive and feels more inviting. I lived in Forest Hill and I can highly recommend the area and it's surroundings.

I would buy a Brita water filter before drinking any tap water in the UK, just tastes so much better.
Anywhere except london
I live in South London, and prefer it to the north end of town. I think it has a lower crime rate - you can check statistics on crime and other neighbourhood information on www.upmystreet.com - just enter the postcode of the area.
neither thanks
Hmm...in the south, you have Brixton, Streatham and the surrounding areas. The north gives us Harlesden, Hackney Stoke Newington. As the man says...swings and roundabouts. Methinks the question is about 'class', rather than 'safety'!
Dunno about the water, though - do you still have any?
I lived in North London and it was beautiful with Hadley Woods, Trent Park and beautiful houses and people. People had manners and were respectful to everyone. I now live near the airport and the people are rude and have no manners. We have a lot of immigrants, vandalism pickpocketing. burglaries and robberies now. Richmond Kingston and Teddington are very nice areas and the people there have manners and act decently towards each other.
I would love to move back to London North or South probably depends on where you need to be for work etc where your friends live

I live in Portsmouth but miss London if anybody wants a council exchange let me know.
Born in the North lived there for twelve years.
Old Ford, West Ham, Bromley by Bow.
Lived South for five years.
Rotherhithe, Brockley, Downham, Sunridge Park.
Moved North again
Bromley by Bow, Forest Gate, East Ham, Essex.

I think the people North of the Thames are warmer in the North East than on the other side of the Thames.

Respect as I think you mean it is an unknown word to me.
I don't expect respect from anyone unless they know me.
I always treat everyone politely and say please thanks or sorry when there is a need.
From top to bottom, rich or poor, I have met very few who have not responded the same.
Approached by a prostitute I would say no thanks in the same way as I would to anyone else.
Show respect and get it.
Show a disregard to people and expect the same in return.

Oh and by the way the water is hard in both areas.
Nowhere is safe these days unless you are sensible.
The country has become the victim of greed.
lived in north london for a few years couldnt wait to get out, wouldnt live anywhere near it for a gold clock.
South East London..........keeping it real.
Neither mate, move to Southampton it's warmer & abit more civlilized, mind you the bloody water is very hard, so perhapes think again.
