what is the seamen-like odor outside in some areas?

we think it may be tree. I smell it in one neighborhood in the summer but also have smelled it elsewhere. Do you know/ iTS rather embarrasing.

its the semen club that goes around the US everyyear... they have a huge submarine full of seamen ready to plunge into an ocean....I don't know....
What do seamen normally smell like? The ocean?

I'd think if you did then the smell is probably from high levels of algae in the water - which can happen if you have had lots of hot days without rain.
