Does anyone know how to get rid of japanese beetles?? once you get rid of them how can you keep them away?
Answers:
I don't know of a chemical option against Japanese Beetles. The only things I know how to do are to either ignore them, or to pick them off plants manually and crush them. It may be possible to make Japanese Beetle traps but I have never tried. Perhaps a shallow pan of sugar water with some liquid dish soap will work -- the sugar will attract them and the soap will coat their wings and make flying away impossible???

I do know that you can buy traps that look like windsocks that they climb into but can't get out of. That's all I know.

To prevent them in the coming years their is something you put in the ground that kills the eggs. it takes a few years to work but it does . as for now they have those traps that are bags on a stake. they catch a lot. If everone would use the inground stuff we could wipe them out.
DO NOT USE TRAPS! The bait will attract every beetle within 10 miles to your yard. The only way to limit the damage is to spray and spray, pick them off by hand, etc. Good luck
Go find the chemical and spray as it tells you and just follow the direction on the bottle.
WE HAVE A LOT OF JAPANESE BEETLES , WE USE THE TRAPS BUT WE ALSO USE SEVIN DUST IT KILLS THEM . WE DUST A COUPLE TIMES A WEEK.
I hung a bug bag which captured some but then I used an Ortho spray for japenese beetles and haven't had any problems since.
