How do you get rid of fruitflys?

Other than calling pest control what home remedies are there that won't hurt our two dogs and cat? We've removed the source of the investation ( hidden trash in teenage sons room ), but now they are everywhere. Your suggestions are appreciated!

your best bet is to lure them away. A sweet smelling concoction of apple cider vinegar works well. Place this in a saran wrap covered container, poking holes in the wrap. Remove ALL other attractors! Place the container in the location in question and leave it for a time. Flies will explore this 'free' meal and be caught in the container. Good luck. Kids!

make a trap, get a jar place some banana in the bottom put in a rolled up piece paper which sits against the side but not the bottom they fly in to get banana but can't fly out
prob gonna have to bomb the house, just take the dog and cat for a walk or something. make sure to put out pilot lights.
Removing the scorce and using some spray should do it. Keep pets out of the room for a little while.
