If a person owns a piece of land,do they own it all the way down to the center of the earth?

Great Question, and I am wondering also now! Why not own it way down? Are you looking to find some black gold? LOL. No really, if the ground say, 20 feet, below your land is not yours, then who does it belong to? Who has jurisdiction over it? I am not sure I would want the government to own it, as they could claim some land underneath you, right? Just some thoughts to ponder. I own some land, and think it would be cool to own it down to the core. I had a neighbor that was Mormon in California, and they had an underground storage shed filled with food and supplies. It was an underground shelter, weird huh? Hey, but it was theirs to do with what they wanted, or so I though.
