Does anyone have any experience with harvesting rainwater for livestock drinking water?

Answers:
Yep, it's pretty straightforward.

The easiest if you have enough land is to hire a bulldozer to dig a stock tank and let the rainwater keep in full (hint: if you have very porous soil you might have to line it with either a tank liner or fine drilling mud to seal it). If you don't have the area, simply guttering the barn and/or house and letting the water collect in a cistern works just fine as well.

i was raised on a farm this is the first time i heard about harvesting water. my cows just drank out of the creek and i had a big water tank by the barn with water from the well. i just turned water fauset on till it was full. then in the barn i had drinking cups by each cow when they are in their stanchons.
