Buy some of that Ortho Home Defense bug spray and spray it all around your foundation of your home and along your screened in porch; that should get rid of bugs for a few months. Keep the rest for another application if you notice that bugs are returning.
I live in Georgia and I don't have a major bug problem because I always spray. Good luck!

First call a prefessional exterminator, they are alot cheaper than you would think, they can do a initial spray and also offer you more information and tools to keep them away.
go buy spider killer
if it comes back, pour gasoline on it
if your willing, burn it
pay to get your house sprayed for bugs and spiders. It helps my house immensly
Well, You could use bug repellent of some kind and just a word of caution.. Check all of your shoes because black widows are nocturnal do they Will hide in dark cool places that includes shoes... I'm sorry if that wasn't much help...
Welcome to the South. If you make a beautiful, inviting, screened in porch, the bugs will thank you!! I don't know how long you've lived there, but I'm not a native Southerner either, and after a while, you can adapt. It's not always pleasant, but you can survive! Remember first that Black Widows, and other "poisoness" spiders, are greatly feared because of a lot of B SciFi movies and media hype. You can spray your porch for insects and spiders, but you'll have to spray every 1 to 3 months, and some spiders (like the brown recluse) are not affected by the spray, unless it lands directly on them. (spraying their web or "area" will not get rid of them).
I have adopted a sort of live and let live philosophy. If they are outside, I try to avoid them, and leave them be. If they come indoors, they are on my turf, and will be executed immediately.
I hope you are able to adapt, because the South really has a charm to it.
These things are all over here in NC. They need a sheltered area to live. Deny them dark corners and crevices. They also like, to a lesser extent, coolness, dampness, and prey (bugs).
To get rid of a bug, think like a bug, and to think like a black widow, think hiding. You will rarely see them without having to move something, open something, or lift something.
Good luck.
