My cat knocked my iron onto the carpet, now there is an iron imprint on my carpet. what to do?

If you're feeling handy...take a sample of your carpet to home depot or some other carpet wholesaler. Match the exact color and shag type and see if you can patch that area. My cats have dug up the carpet around my door frames (they don't like being shut out at night) and this is what I was planning to do.
If you can find out from the apartment maintenance man where they get the carpets from and the name of the color and style, you can get a piece the size you need to replace that section.
Cut out the area in a square, then place some adhesive, you can ask the carpet people for what kind you should use, then glue in an exact sized piece of matching carpeting.
Or tell the apartments you had an accident with the iron and they may take care of it for you. If they don't know about the cat, don't tell them it was the cat's fault though.

i did that once..buy a carpet washing machine. Or you can borrow one from home depot. Use all purpose washing liquid. Helped me.
Cut out the burned area and replace it with a similar piece of carpet.
You have two options. If the carpet is a cut pile and only the tips have been singed, you may clip the tips of the fiber to remove any charred areas. Also you can cut a square section from a closet (or other hidden area) and switch the two areas. This is easily done by a carpet installer, but if you are a do-it-yourself kind of person, you may use double-sided tape (underneath) to secure the areas.
