How can I get rid of mice in my house?

We catch some and ten more appear my husband isn't one to kill them anyway he would rather catch them and release them out side. Don't they come back? How often can a female mouse reproduce? Most of the mice we see are babies. Someone please help me on getting rid of these annoying pests.
P.S. I am afraid to use de-con or something like that because I have dogs. I also have little bitty ants that stink when you kill them any idea what these are and how to get rid of them to? I'm tired of sharing my house with rodents!!

Home depot sells blue rat cubes, which will get ride of them, if you don't kill them, they will multiply by the 20's and 30's. each 120 days.
i've used decon and I've had dogs as well as small children. The key is to put it where the mice can get to it but the dog or kids can't. It works great also. Good luck I hate mice!
Wow, that sounds extreme. They are probably breeding in there. I would call an exterminator.
I put moth balls out around my house. I have children so I only put about 3 or 4 behind the stove, under the sink, refrigerater, washer&dryer, under dressers. Any place that my 1 year old can't reach them. I'm not sure exactly what moth balls do but a couple of years ago I was dealing with water bugs and some old woman told me to use moth balls. All I know is that I no longer deal with ants, spiders, mice, or any other insect. I think that most rodents and insects function by smell and they can't stand the smell of moth balls. It can't hurt to try them. They only cost about 1.00 a box.
I used d-con and i have a dog. You just have to hide it in an inaccesible spot from your dog. Trust me the mice will find it no matter where you plsce it. i had mice a year ago used d-con and now i am mouse free.
Set traps tell your husband as he releases them outside that they come right back in the house.
Use more cleaning chemicals. Sweep and mop daily until the rodents hate the smell of cleanliness. Don't feed them, theyll just come back. Dont release them right outside your door, theyll just come back.

Please terminate the mice, they are NOT pet material!
I got a cat from the local shelter and tho she's never gotten one to my knowledge, there's no more mice. I was told the mice can smell the cat and no longer feel safe in the environment.
