Can anyone tell me the average cost of having a three bedroom two bath house's attic insulated?
Answers:
3 bed, 2 bath, kit with big table, washroom, den, living room, 2 car garage, portion of attic floored, 2400 sq. ft-- blew in enough insulation to bring it up to 14 inches-- cost $1K-- well worth it.
even more so after I replaced 9 windows on the south side. Keep my A/C on 78 degrees all the time, use ceiling fans where ever I am, and last month (July), electric bill was $133. I love it.
Other answers:
Depends on square footage(1.8k or 5k) but what ever the cost it is worth it.

It also depends on what kind of insulation you use -- fiberglass, cotton, etc.
There are a lot of energy efficient, recycled types that are better for your lungs, the environment and your monthly bills!
I live in an attic that has insulation in the floor only. It can be misserable. There is blown celluose in the floor now and I was looking into putting fiberglass batting in the roof/ceiling. It can be a do it yourself project for only a couple hundred dollars. First you should measure the width between the roof joists. Then figure out how many square feet you will need. You can go to any home improvement store and get prices that vary on brand, type and R value. I would recomend a type with a kraft paper face. It will make it easier to staple in and you'll get less fiberglass on you. John Mansville is a fairly common brand.
