Is to rent a house for $1000 a month or more just plain crazy?
Answers:
That is too much money to rent a house for, especially when you buy a house your monthly payments would be about half that. Maybe you should reconsider buying a home. There are lots of Banks that offer good loans to first time buyers. Why throw away $12000 a year on a home that will never be yours when you can put less than that into a home that will be yours and even with property taxes you will still be saving money.

if you can afford $1000 a month then i guess it's not crazy. but if you can afford that, you should be able to afford to buy. if you don't have a down payment, there are alot of places that offer no down payment loans

No, it sounds reasonable to me.
If you can afford $1000 a month for rent, you'd be crazy to not buy.
Check with lending places like the bank to see what your options are. There are deals for first time home buyers if this will be your first home.
if you can afford it I guess it's ok..but to me thats alot cause your paying someone else mortage and you will have nothing to show for it yourself.
Realmccoy028,
You are missing the points. 1 - the house is a real deal.
2 - you have a new expense. 3- it doesn't require more room, no matter what people say. 4- house has more than enough room for 2 adults and one child. 5 - you don't need more expenses than you got. 6 -save your money (live on 70% of take home) 7-get out of debt while child is young. 8- save up 30% down on house or keep renting. read/visit www.daveramsey.com so u don't go down the poor/debt people road
Where does everyone live that $1000 a month is enough for a house payment??? I pay $1700 a month for a 3 bedroom house in California, and we rent because we could not qualify for anthing that would keep our payments under $2000. I think it just depends on where you lkive and what kind of income you have. If your wife is going to have a baby and she works, consider that you will be down to 1 income very soon. The baby takes up so little space in the beginning, sleeping in a bassinet or crib in your room could make it so you can keep your current very reasonable rent and then SAVE all of your excess for the next year or so and possibly buy something bigger when the baby is getting ready to walk. Good luck to you, ultimately just do what will make you happy!
i pay 2000$ a month rent for my place,so i think 1000$ is a steal!
