How can I flatten a large wool and silk Shiraz carpet which has become wrinkled and lumpy in storage?

Carpet has ridges along the middle now, and sides don't lie flat. Could I steam it? Don't want to damage it. Thanks for any suggestions!

i would lay it flat out let the heat and air get to it people do this with lino which is har to lay after being rolled up it needs over night or for few days out flat
