How do I get a Bat out of my house, he only comes out after dark of course then hides when I look for him?

Turn on the light near your door and open the door. Turn off the lights everywhere else, the bat will go for the light and find it's way out. I know this seems counterintuitive, but we've had alot of bats and this is what was suggested. It worked a couple times. Other times: cat trapped it; hit it with tennis racket and put it outdoors (they are stunned very easily, but it's hard because they are so creepy when they are flying around your house). I know other times, people in my town have called the police and they have actually come and helped (it's a big town too, not someplace where they have nothing else to do). Beware, bats carry rabies. You could be bitten in your sleep and not even know because their teeth are so tiny (sounds ridiculous, but it's true, an 18 year old boy in Texas recently died from rabies from a bat and this is exactly what happened). Call your animal control officer for advice, and call your doctor to see what they say, especially if you have small children.

We had this happen when I was a kid. We had to shoot it, Bats are impossible to catch. I am not sure how we got around the dark/hiding thing though. I think we turned on all the lights and he had nowhere to go. He landed on the wall and bang! I still remember the bullet hole to this day. I know this solution is not the most humane, but there was no other choice.

Bats eat insects. Use in an oil pan or something on the floor in dim light and catch the thing in a fish net when he takes the food. Stay near the door so he might go out by itself Let the critter out and keep your windows closed next time.
Turn on all your lights because he's looking for an escape route. Then open a door or window in the room where he's at. He'll feel the draft and fly out.
If that doesn't work, I suggest you look for the little b*stard, mace him with hair spray, foot spray, air freshener, Lysol or deodorant (do not use Raid) and smash his a*s with something heavy. Then throw his dead carcass in a paper bag and burn him.
Please DO NOT try & catch the bat yourself! Bats carry rabies & I know someone who died about 10 years ago from rabies after handling a bat. She was a beautiful 23 year old woman. Also, they are a protected species. You can call a local pest control company & they can refer you to someone who specializes in catching bats. Be careful!
Well, this is something new! I would try turning off all of the lights in the house, except one room.(largest room possible) Leave the window open for as long as you can, and allow bugs to enter in and hang around the light. The bat will eventually come to the light to catch the bugs. If not, you're going to have to wait until he dies, and you can smell where he is. But, if all else fails and you're not up for the challenge, you can always call animal control. They'll take care of it for you and you won't have to risk rabies. Be careful and do what is best for you.
Put a ball,or something like it in a sock or pantyhose,knot it in, bats are attracted to movement, throw it up towards him, he'll attack it and his feet will get stuck,bringing him to the ground...then you can net him, smash him...whatever you want. Then, get yourself a bathouse or two and they'll stay out of yours.
