Get references...
Get their contractor's licence number,,, and tell them you'll get back to them.
Call the references...go see the work done by them for these references...
Call the Licencing people and make sure these people are the ones who gave you the licence. Dateline showed one couple who got taken sooooooooo bad, by a contractor who was using a Licence number that didn't even belong to him!
and then Get their bid...and
PAY NOTHING until the job is DONE and you're satisfied...(which means you need to inspect their work before you pay them).
& pay with a CHEQUE...not cash...NEVER pay with CASH---and get a WORK-ORDER showing "PAID IN FULL" and a list of the things done...written on it.
