iwant information on growing gourds?
Answers:
The squash family likes nitrogen, they are heavy feeders. Unlike most plants that produce poorly when they are given a lot of nitrogen---N, or the first number on a fertilizer container, the squash family, which gourds are a member of, thrives on it. Lots of organic material worked into the soil, and water in times of drought. If the humidity is high at summer's end, expect powdery mildew on the leaves. Personal note: gourds are great grown on a trellis or lattice. We have birdhouse gourds this year that have climbed well over our heads. My husband keeps adding to the trellis, higher and higher until now we have an archway to walk through.
