Have a four foot pool and can't keep the water clear despite all the chemicals I put in it, any suggestions?

Answers:
i am going to assume that you do not have any living things in your pool. part of the problem is that you are introducing too many chemicals or to much. empty and flush your pool. scrub the sides and bottom with any antibacterial type soap...flush many times to get rid of residual soap.

you can purchase chemicals that will clear up the water once you detect problems.. be careful because again, too much chemicals is usually worse than not enough. read the directions. usually small doses on a regular interval will keep the pool clear.... get a test kit and monitor the pool on a regular basis.

if your pool has a pump to circulate the water you need to make sure that you have cleaned and sanitized it too.

if you have no circulation that is more that likely the problem...stagnant water will only get worse

Is your filter clean? If this is a pool that stays up all year, you need to clean your filter at the beginning of the season, and, if you're in a warmer climate (with a longer pool season), mid-season.

Try checking the stabilizer, alkalinity, and pH levels. If you're using a home test kit, bring a sample to a reputable pool store for a more accurate test.

Clarifier is good, to a point, but often leaves a white powdery residue on the bottom of your pool, which, when kicked up, causes cloudy water. If you've put in a lot of clarifier (including shock with clarifier added), you may need to let it settle, then vacuum it.

keep the filter running.
Have you shocked it? I use that Shock Plus. I seem to only have problems after it has rained, don't know why.
Circulation
Filtration
Proper water chemistry
These are the 3 requirements for maintaining blue, clear, sparkling water.
Check and adjust chemicals. Make sure the pump runs 24/7 while trying to clear the water. Keep the filter cleaned/backwashed. Good idea to change the sand if you have a sand filter.
