For Australians, tell me all about, Tea Tree Oil?

It's a mirical worker on head lice, and skin refreshing, bites, skin irritations.
Will it kill and repell cockroaches and fleas well ?In our carpets, sofa, etc.
Give me a good, Tea Tree Oil cocktail mix for these pests.
They are especially bad here in, Florida this year.. I think it's because our weather is so crazy the last 4 and now 5 years, dry,(for us it is anyway), more then 4 monthes of not much rain, and then a river, of course it's summer here, our rainy season, hurricane season as well..
Can this oil be put on cats saftly ?
Maybe like a spritz spray ?
I couldn't be any worse then the flea treatments we have on our pet shelves, says right on the lable, "hazardus to domestic animals", cats clean them selves, lick their fur, this can't be too cool when flea powders are used, the instructions say work it between their toes,(paws).
You have any secret formulas I can use for them ?
I would sure be grateful.
Thanks..
This is Florida, so we have all kinds.

Answers:
I know tea tree oil is a good antibacterial, I have only used it for pimples and in the kids humidifiers at night, never before on my pets. But I would just add it to a spritz like you said. Do a google search you are bound to find some natural recipes for using it.
