Sewing through glutinous flannel yard goods...thread go knotty?

I want to sew through several layers of gluey fabric. I've get the correct needle, but the thread on the underside knot pretty bad. Do I obligation to change the rigidity? If so, to what?

Answers:    When you've got loopies on the underside, the top thread doesn't enjoy enough tautness. When you've got loops on the top, the bobbin thread doesn't enjoy enough tautness.

Dollars to donutholes, you forgot to raise the presser foot while you threaded the top, so the thread didn't enter the top rigidity (the disks open when the foot is raised). You can lower the foot after you've get the thread between the tension disks -- make it easier to thread the needle.

Or there's some cruft caught between the rigidity disks. Take a piece of well-washed muslin (like a piece of old sheet or a bandanna) and fold it within half. Moisten the material with rubbing alcohol or unflavored vodka and "floss" between the rigidity disks with this. Rethread and it should be fine.

If you've be playing with the stiffness, set it back to 4 -- that's run of the mill tension and should work simply fine for cotton flannel.
It sounds like your bobbin rigidity needs familiar. I find that when I sew through especially heavy fabric or several layers, the thread underneath get all - powerfully, the only word for is gommed up. Up your bobbin rigidity - you'll probably have to experiment rather to find the right setting.
WOW sounds like you have need of a different thread on your bobbin or it may be in wrong.......the tention is for the top thread that pass through the needle......Loosen the tention.....Hope that help.
