Your looking at about 120.00 to 200.00, for a property that age

Best phone your IFA to book the survey as your solicitor will charge you for the phone call and delivery of the survey. Save as much as you can when buying a house

I think about £150.00 unless one has been done before and youcan find out which surveyor did it you can buy it second hand at about £70.

We just payed £355 for a 1950's 3 bedroom house in North West. This was a home buyer's report which is a little more expensive and a little more detailed.
To those who say £150, I had 4 quotes and non of them anywhere near £150.
Depends. Anything from £100-£300. But who in their right mind would want to live in Basildon?
£160
we paid £371 with vat in the midlands for a 3 bedroom house
It depends on the type of survey you require:

1. Valuation - a basic survey which confirms the value of the property & basic information. The purpose of this survey is to confirm whether the property is suitable security for a mortgage. Normally costs in the region of £250. You might do this on a brand new property, as the property itself would normally have a 10 year warranty.

2. Home buyers report - consists of a valuation (like above) but also a more detailed report into the condition of the home, which is prepared into a "book". This is of benefit to the homebuyer, as it gives more details on the buidling itself, and highlights any areas of concern. It will also pick things up which won't show on a basic valuation survey. Recommended for most people buying second hand properties. Normally costs in the region of £500.

3. Structural survey - same as homebuyers report, but much more intensive. Normally used when buying old properties, or properties which have been significantly altered by the previous owner (e.g a builder who makes significant alterations to his home). Normally costs in the region of £1000.
