How can I control the Red Wasp (polistes carolina)?

Hill Country of Texas. I'm tired of buying Wasp Spray, it only kill the guys guarding the nest, that is contained by the attic of my little old country house. I am told by the Lady who lived here until that time, they were here when she get here.
