How do I get rid of possums?

I keep seeing them in my backyard. What's the best way to get rid of them?

Since you see them in your back yard, do you have an outside pet? If so, the possums are coming for your pet's food at night. Also, are your trash bins located at the side or in the back of your house. They will also raid trash bins. Pour a little ammmonia on your trash bins and this will send the possums running. They are looking for food, so they are either finding food on your property or are using your backyard as path to find where the food is located. DO NOT TRY TO ATTEMPT TO CAPTURE ONE OF THESE CREATURES....THEY WILL HISS AND BITE. Keep all food out of back and front yard. If you have outside pets, make sure you take in the food at night.
