How can we prevent Canadian Geese from infiltrating our backyard lawn and "pooping" all over the lawn?

We live on a man-made lake in a suburb of Buffalo, NY. I have tried erecting a small fence, string, etc. along the water's edge to no avail. The geese seem to jump or fly over my barrier. Plus the barriers do not look good. The mess is driving me crazy. Help.

GRAPES! I lived in Danvers, MA years ago and we had a small park there that was overrun by geese in the worst way. They take poodle size poops and lots of them. You couldn't take a step or a breath of air without "sensing" their presence.
So..some old timer said we should get some grape juice concentrate and mix it up and then spray it all over the place using those small pump spray tanks. They're like 2.5 or 3 gallon and are pumped up by hand. They're typically used for spraying on bug repellents, deck stain..that type or thing. They are readily available at Home Depot, Lowes et al. Well..the geese HATE it. It works great. (NOTE: the mix has to be at least as potent as what you might drink. Don't try and cheap out by applying some ridiculously thined out mix. Lay it on heavy. When you get done your yard should smell like huge vat of grape jiuce. Good luck!

Get a dog. In my town, the golf courses actually invite people with dogs to chase the geese off.
Lobby congress...stop undocumented poopers,
Build a dome around your house and yard.
Try this out - has a few options in there

a friend had this problem, and bought some fake dogs. That helped if they were moved around each day
I used to live on a lake that had this problem, the only sure fire method was to have a dog that ran the geese away. We had sliding glass doors and the male geese kept attacking their images. You might try your state dept of natural resources for help as the birds are protected by state law in most areas. good luck
Replant your lawn in a ground cover that is not in a gooses diet. Your lawn is goose food and there is the expression "like **** through a goose".
