Answers: A wet dry shop vac help, if not rent one of those mat cleaning machines to get most of the sea out. Air flow, use fans to blow over the top of the hearth rug overnight to speed up the drying.
Probably put it outside if you can and hang it. If it's too big consequently put stuff underneath it too elevate it, and run a dehumidifier.
I would think if you added warmth to dry it that you would get mold.
