grade to 3.5", when you compact prior to placing concrete you will achieve 4" depth. Place a grid pattern using 1/2" re bar, at 2' on center each way. Raise the re bar to center of concrete slab when placed. After pour and finish, cut (concrete saw) control joints at a depth of 1/4 the slab thickness or 1" in this case. Joints should be no farther than 12 feet in either direction
