Is there a proper way to sanitize a washer and dryer?
Answers:
Let the washer do a full cycle with a good splash of pine-o-clean in the water. Wiping the dryer out with pine-o-clean and then rinsing should get rid of any germs and smells too.
Other answers:
put either white vinager or some bleach in the washer and let in run a cycle and the dryer just turn the heat as high as it will go as the setting and let it run for a little while.

run bleach thru the washer
I'd wipe it down with 70% Rubbing Alcohol from the pharmacy dept. of your local super market. That should do the trick of sanitizing it. To get rid of the molds I'd try either oxyclean, or ammonia.
Hot Water and Bleach should do the trick. Wipe the dryer out with a cloth that has bleach on it and they turn the dryer on "Hot" . That should do it.
Run the washer ( with nothing in it) a few times with soap and put 2nd rinse option on.
The dryer should get hot enough to sanatize itself run it a few times also.
Pitch the Washer and keep the Dryer, or unload the Washer on someone else. You can't sanatize every place on a Washing Machine!
It's Bacterial Necrosis, and it's nasty!
run it empty but add several tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda
Get HTH at any pool supply store(small amount goes a long way). Put capfull in full tank of washer. Hold for 24 hours. Be sure to not get any on skin or eyes or clothing. Flush washer well.
depends what odors it has. If it has any kind of urine smell DO NOT use vinegar!!
If it has urine the best thing is a citrus based cleaner. Good old clorox and water always works too.
