Is there a way to get scratches out of a watch's face?

Answers:
Well, you can have a gold smith polish it out. Some crystals (this is what a watch's face is called), it comes out smoothe. Some, it doesnt come out at all. But, you would have to pay for this service, because the gold smith can easily burn the crystal. And some crystals are not easy to replace. So, he might say no right off the bat. But, if you ask him how much, and tell him that if he burns it, you wont be mad, then he might do it. It costs about $10 dollars. It takes like 2 minutes. You cannot just replace any watch crystal with a higher grade crystal. Sometimes they are not made, and sometimes they are not easily found. I have about 25,000 crystals in my basement, and sometimes its not easy to find a certain crystal, let alone that same crystal in high grade. Some of the more expensive watches already have sapphire crystals in them, and they never scratch. Some are soo cheap that you keep replacing them. The thing is with these crystals, they only cost like 1.25 each, but the store charges you from 20-40 each. Thats the way crystals are sold. I think 25 dollars is ridiculous, but thats the way the store works. You might be able to go to an autobody shop and have them buff it out with a car buffer. But, no garauntees there because autobody guys dont fix watches.

Other answers:
If they are significant scratches, probably not. If they are light scratches you could probably have a jeweler polish them out, but the fact that the watch face is scratched at all tells me it's a cheap crystal face so it might not be worth it. If this is a watch you intend to keep for a long time, I would ask a jeweler about replacing the crystal with a higher quality one that will not scratch so easily. The crystal in my seven year old TAG watch doesn't have a scratch.

yeah...buy a new face.
if this watch is cheap, try car painting polishing liquid, sometimes help get rid of scratches. I ve tryed once and worked for me. If you care about this watch, you better take it to a trusted jeweler.
Yes. You can buy a scratch remover polish that will work on watch faces and iPods.
