Answers: I don't live surrounded by the cold blasted canadian winter abyss, but i live in missouri it does return with cold here occasionally. i have walk on this thing when river gets surrounded by the pool deep plenty to come through. i put a pump out on it and drain it back down. never have a worry, and i can`t bear cold water, so i gotta be sure to hike on it right? hope this helps Dan
