ive bought a mini cooler?

the instructions say dont use for prolonged periods but does not say how long for is this instruction for when its being used in the car or not can anyone shed some light on this for me please.

Answers:
It will be something like days at a time. I have one which I took on holiday with me, we had it plugged into the cigarette lighter all the way there.

Then, when we got to the hotel, we unplugged it and as soon as we got to our room we plugged it in at the wall all night and for the whole of the next day and the next day too.

Then, we plugged it back in the cigarette lighter in the morning and drove to the complex we were staying at and unplugged it there and moved everything into the fridge there.

It was fine, nothing happened. However, if you want to be positive then you best check with the company which made the fridge.

prolonged periods on that type of item would be for more than a few hours... or for as long as an average road trip. But don't use it as a "always on" fridge

simple if it explodes you have used it too long
Those are great wee things!

Don't have it on for more than 5 hours or so, I'd say.
You can use it as long as you want, but you will need to defrost it regularly.
TAKE IT BACK

I bought a mini cooper = we must be related - lol
When I bought mine it said do not use for more than 12 hours continuously, its been on overnight occasionally and no damage has been done. I'd say just use it for when you need it and turn it off before you go to bed.
Because they don't give a specific amount of time, I believe they are saying not to use it continuously. For example, stop kids in dorm rooms using them as a 'fridge', leaving it plugged in for months. Really, this is just an insurance policy against getting sued should someone blame them for starting a fire, etc. I imagine that it is safe for several days (like on a prolonged road trip). If it was dangerous after as short a period as a few hours, they would plaster that number all over the directions.
I have used mine for several days in a row on vacation, it was fine. Months would be too much and wear it out so why bother?
probably if you use it all year round its not safe but for small uses like going holiday i thnk it is safe
