Big black ants? These are carpenter ants and are worse than termites. I used a powdered Diazinon for inside under cabinets ect, and granulated outside in the yard and flowerbeds. It is an Ortho product as well as others. Not sure on the spelling but that's close. Home defense is OK but as with most of the home owner products it is watered down for safety reasons and requires constant repeats.

after all the money you spent on products you caould have called an exterminantor. have you tried using powder boric acid? it is harmless to your family but it works good on ants, they won't cross chalk or chalky stuff.
