Can i use a ductless cooling system in an apartment?
What about portable - I don't like the idea of putting a big hole in my wall or having to buy two separate units.
Answers:
sure, but you'll still have an exhaust pipe you'll have to run out a window
Other answers:
you can put those wall type units in a window. So i guess you would need 2 of them, one would not be enough for 2 bedrooms while using no duct.

no...too much modification
You have two choices,
One is a standard window A/C
They usually need a bracket on the outsid to support them safely.
Sears makes a standalone unit that is VERY good.
But you still have to have a exhaust hose
to get rid of the HOT air......
But it comes with adapters you close the window on
to exhaust the hot air thru.
Yes it is called a window air conditioner. Actually they have one now that doesn't need to be outside.
I have seen free standing A/C units at Costco. It's kinda late in the year so I am not sure if they still have them. Basically you just plug them into your wall and set them in a room. I am not sure how much they cool or if there is a tube that needs to be ran outside. I recommend you taking a look at Costco.
In addition to the hot air exhaust, you'll also need to remember that air conditioners generate condensate (and a *lot* of it, if there's any degree of humidity in the air). That's why you see window units dripping water all the time...
My $80 window shaker cools better than my expensive centralized duct unit does.
