How can I distress my own jeans?
Answers:
Saw this on Martha Stewart recently. They used a dremel and sanding sponges (which she says will wear the fabric without tearing). The dremel was used for fraying edges like the hem and tops of pockets. You can probably get a similar effect with the sanding sponges.
Sitting down while sanding the thighs for a worn-in look or doing 'whiskers' in the hip area will help make the effect more natural.

Cut out the spot and use a small comb or brush to fray the edges a little. Then wash and dry about 3 times to make it fray more around that hole. Also, you can sprinkle a bleach and water mix on them and then wash immediately and dry. ALSO, leave them out in the sun for a few days. That will fade them. :-)

get a large rough stone and rub, and rub and rub. It might take a while do this then wash them and repeat the process, it should work
Sandpaper can give it that distressed look.
you can cut holes in them with scissorsby first pinching a peace of fabric and cuttinthe peice and just keep on cutting around it. Keep on doing that. And keep on getting stains on them or maybe painting and writing on them.
Use sandpaper to wear out the material. A rough grit will work best.Cut a small area and comb out the frays, wash the jeans then dry on high heat it will cause the fray to look natural. Do not just cut and fray or it will look tacky. [You can if you are careful use bleah/water mixture but this will be obvious that you did it yourself.]
